Dr. Maria Akani holds a Master of medicine in Psychiatry, Master of Science in Clinical Neuropsychology, a degree in Medicine and Surgery, a degree in Human Biology and certificate in Life Coaching and Christian Counselling.
She is the Managing Consultant of Renaisense - a company that facilitates recovery and life transformation through counselling, psychotherapy, psychiatry, coaching and training.
Dr. Akani’s vast experience and education has enabled her to be an enthusiastic teacher, facilitator and speaker, delivering lectures and talks on various subjects pertaining to life and living. She has written several articles and blogs that make for excellent reading. She recently also authored a heartache handbook.
In 2019, she was the given the Anakazi Banking Women of the Year health award for her phenomenal contributions in advancing mental health in Zambia. Dr Akani also received the ABSA Women in Business health award in 2022.
